Feeding Texas: Giving relief to hungry children and families

FEEDING TEXAS.png

Our hearts break for the people of Texas whose lives have been upended by deadly cold weather. The state's failure to weather-proof many power-generating facilities worsened the crisis, leaving millions of homes and businesses with no electricity.

In some areas, boil water advisories were in place as the lack of power crippled water plants. It also resulted in burst pipes in many homes.

The freezing weather conditions and power outages led to an increase in 911 calls and hospitalizations. Some had to be treated for exposure to the cold and others for carbon monoxide poisoning after using generators or running their cars to try to stay warm in enclosed places.

President Joe Biden has declared a state of emergency which makes people in Texas eligible for federal assistance, but immediate assistance is needed as many individuals and families struggle to find shelter, food and warmth in these dangerous freezing conditions.

Empowering Everyday Women cares about this struggle.

Through partnerships with Texas food banks, our longstanding commitment to fighting hunger now extends to The Lone Star State to bolster their efforts to meet the overwhelming needs of hungry families that are negatively impacted by this crisis.

Please help us continue our efforts to feed the hungry and be a blessing to those in need. Thank you in advance for your generous support and love in action.
